We are excited to continue strengthening the international Scratch Tactile community with a new edition of the Scratch Tactile Ambassadors programme, designed to advance creative, inclusive, and accessible coding across diverse educational contexts.

Scratch Tactile Ambassadors (STA) is a 100% free programme organised by Sistema THEAD, with the support of the Government of Catalonia, aimed at building an international community of teachers, schools, universities, and educational stakeholders committed to making digital education more inclusive.

Today, this community connects more than 5.000 educators across over 70 countries. The first edition of the programme brought together 62 schools from 13 countries, organised into two international working groups: one English-speaking and one Spanish-speaking. Participating schools came from Argentina, Australia, Brazil, the Dominican Republic, Ghana, Greece, India, Mexico, Romania, Spain, Tunisia, Uruguay, and the United States.

Beyond the numbers, Scratch Tactile Ambassadors fosters an international network that shares experiences, materials, and learning in order to move towards a model of digital education in which accessibility and creativity are embedded in the design from the very beginning.

All materials will be provided in editable format so that they can be translated or adapted to the language of each participating country.

Who can participate?

The programme is aimed at teachers, educational leaders, trainers, institutions, and education changemakers who wish to promote accessible creative coding and contribute to the development of inclusive learning communities.

Programme objectives

The main objective of Scratch Tactile Ambassadors (STA) is to strengthen the capacity of teachers and schools to implement accessible creative coding experiences in the classroom. To achieve this, the programme combines training, pedagogical support, and an international community, encouraging the exchange of experiences, good practices, and teaching proposals adapted to diverse educational realities.

STA also includes an educational research dimension. Throughout the programme, evidence will be collected on the learning and satisfaction of both teachers and students, as well as information on how activities are implemented in different school contexts. This educational research dimension will help continuously improve Scratch Tactile resources and support their international impact.

Benefits for schools and educators

Taking part in Scratch Tactile Ambassadors means becoming part of a growing international community and gaining access to an ecosystem of inclusive educational resources for teaching coding in a tangible, creative, and accessible way.

Programme resources include:

  • Scratch Tactile Original, an inclusive educational game for learning and teaching coding without screens, through touch and play.

  • Tactile Jr CARDS, the new card-based version that is more portable, lightweight, and equally inclusive and accessible.

  • Tactile Jr App, the new web app that complements and expands activities through coding and floor robots.

Certification

In addition, at the end of the programme, participants who complete the activities and requirements will receive official certification:

  • Scratch Tactile Ambassador: for participating educators.

  • Scratch Tactile Certified School: for educational institutions taking part in the programme.

This certification recognises the commitment of educators and institutions to creative, inclusive, and accessible coding, as well as their active participation in the international Scratch Tactile community.
